TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME

Here are some tips to maximize work efficiency in your home:

  • Establish a Schedule: Treat your at-home job like the office. Get up, shower, and be at your desk at the same time.
  • Limit Distractions: Set a work area and tell your spouse, children and/or roommates that this is your place of work and to not disrupt you during your allocated work time.
  • Separate Personal Activities: Schedule doctor’s appointments, grocery store runs, and household chores to be done during non work hours.
  • Use a To-Do-List: This is especially helpful in monitoring your daily productivity. Set goals and at the end of the day review those goals and reflect on your accomplishments.
  • Save Your Receipts: As an entrepreneur the onus will now be on you to file your taxes in the name of your business. You will be surprised at the tax-breaks and right offs available to entrepreneurs and self-employed workers. Any expenses remotely associated with your work can now be claimed. All gas receipts, perhaps vacations, computer upgrades, coffee, etc. A good accountant can explain all the potential.
